Pasadena has plenty of martial arts options — most are MMA-focused or older Gracie-lineage schools. Self-Defense That Actually Works

Real self-defense isn't a marketing term — it's what Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu actually does. Our curriculum teaches you to control, escape, and submit larger opponents using technique over strength. Practical for shift workers, parents, and anyone who values knowing how to handle themselves.

Kids Programs Built for Pasadena Families

Our Tiny Eagles, Junior Eagles, and Kids BJJ programs serve Pasadena ISD families across Pasadena, Deer Park, and surrounding communities. Real progression and a structured belt path that builds discipline and confidence — not babysitting with belts.

Pasadena FAQs

Questions From Pasadena Families

Pasadena already has lots of martial arts schools — what makes Alliance different?

Most of Pasadena’s options are MMA-focused gyms or family-rec martial arts schools following older Gracie self-defense curriculums. Alliance is part of the most decorated competition team in jiu-jitsu history — 15-time Men’s World Champion, 10-time Women’s World Champion. Our methodology is designed to build real technical depth, not just keep students busy. If you’ve trained at a Pasadena gym and felt like you stopped progressing, the difference is structure plus competition-grade coaching.

What's the drive from Pasadena Old Town or Deer Park?

From Pasadena Old Town, expect about 15 to 20 minutes via Beltway 8 West. From Deer Park or La Porte, plan for 18 to 25 minutes. Beltway 8 is usually clear west of the refinery corridor — most of our Pasadena-area students find it faster than fighting Spencer Highway or Pasadena Blvd traffic at peak hours. We’re at the Blackhawk exit on Sam Houston Pkwy E with free parking.

Are kids classes good for Pasadena ISD students?

Yes. Our kids programs (Tiny Eagles ages 4–6, Junior Eagles 7–10, Kids BJJ 11–14) are built around school-day schedules with afternoon classes starting after 4 PM. We serve students from Pasadena ISD elementary, intermediate, and middle schools across Pasadena, Genoa, Deer Park, and surrounding areas.

I work shift hours at the refineries — do you have flexible class times?

Yes. We open at 5 AM Monday through Friday for early-morning training before day shift, and evening classes run until 8 PM for students coming off swing shift. Saturday classes run 9 AM to 1 PM. We have current students working at refineries, plant sites, and shift-based jobs across the Pasadena-Deer Park corridor.

Do you offer competition training, or just recreational classes?

Both. Most students train recreationally, learn jiu-jitsu, get in shape, and never compete — and that’s perfectly fine. For students who want to compete at IBJJF, NAGA, ADCC, or local Houston-area tournaments, we have a dedicated Competition BJJ program with match-pace sparring, position-specific drilling, video review, and structured camps leading into events.

Can I try a class before committing?

Yes — start with a free consultation. Call ahead and we’ll have a coach ready to give you a tour, answer questions, watch a class together, and talk through which program fits your goals. No high-pressure sales, no commitment required. If you want to actually train on day one, that’s also fine — bring workout clothes and we’ll loan you a gi.
