I've never done jiu-jitsu before — can I really just walk in?
Yes. The cleanest first visit is a free consultation — call ahead or walk in during open hours and we’ll have a coach ready to give you a tour, answer questions, and let you watch a class. No high-pressure sales, no commitment required. If you want to actually train on day one, that’s also fine — bring workout clothes and we’ll loan you a gi for your first class.
I train at another BJJ academy — can I drop in for a class?
Drop-ins are welcome. Visiting BJJ practitioners pay a small drop-in fee per class ($25 currently, $10 gi rental if needed). Members of other Alliance affiliate academies — contact us in advance and we’ll often waive the drop-in fee. See our /visitors/ page for full details.
Are there other BJJ schools closer to me than Alliance?
Honest answer: it depends where you are. The Pearland area has 7+ dedicated BJJ schools — most follow Gracie self-defense curriculums or are family-rec focused. Friendswood and Pasadena have a few options each, mostly MMA-focused. Alvin and South Houston have very few dedicated BJJ academies. Alliance differentiates by being the only south-Houston-area academy on the 15-time Men’s World Champion / 10-time Women’s World Champion Alliance team. If you want serious traditional Brazilian jiu-jitsu with a structured belt path and championship-grade coaching, the drive is usually worth the difference.
What classes do you offer? I just need the basics for now.
Our adult Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes are for total beginners through advanced practitioners. Kids BJJ runs ages 4–14 in three age-grouped programs (Tiny Eagles 4–6, Junior Eagles 7–10, Kids BJJ 11–14). We also offer No-Gi BJJ, Adult Muay Thai, Kids Muay Thai, and Fit Camp (strength + conditioning). Mon-Sat 5 AM to 8 PM with afternoon classes for school-age kids.
