What is No-Gi BJJ?
Slick Movement & Raw Technique
No-Gi grappling replaces friction and gi grips with slick movement and raw technique. Our instructors focus on helping you understand how techniques connect—not just memorizing isolated moves.
Without the traditional gi (kimono), you control opponents through body positioning, underhooks, overhooks, and direct body contact. This approach emphasizes speed, athleticism, and precision—making it highly effective for MMA and real-world scenarios.
Fundamentals Required: Complete our foundational BJJ course first for baseline skills
Structured Curriculum: Base lesson progression from fundamentals to advanced techniques
Multiple Classes Weekly: Train on your schedule with No-Gi classes throughout the week
The No-Gi Advantage
Speed, precision, and real-world effectiveness
Real-World Readiness
Training without gi grips is more applicable to real-world self-defense and MMA situations. When you control opponents without relying on clothing, you develop skills that translate directly to street scenarios.
Speed & Athleticism
No-Gi grappling is faster-paced and more dynamic than gi training. The increased speed improves reflexes, cardiovascular conditioning, and explosive power.
Enhanced Technique
Removing gi grips forces you to develop precision movement and superior body control. This constraint improves overall grappling by making you rely on timing, pressure, and technique.
Control & Grip
Learn to control opponents without cloth grips. This translates to stronger clinches, body locks, and positional control that works in any grappling scenario.
Increased Mobility
No-Gi attire (rash guard and shorts) allows greater range of motion and technique variety. Experience more fluid movement and explore positions harder to achieve in a gi.
Adaptability
Learn to adapt your technique to any situation without relying on gi grips. Develop versatility that makes you a more complete grappler.
Competition Ready
Prepare for No-Gi tournaments, submission-only events, or mixed martial arts competition. Develop the specific skills needed to excel in modern grappling sports.
Supportive Community
Train in an environment that pushes your limits while respecting tradition. Our gym community provides camaraderie and motivation.
Cross-Training Value
No-Gi adds variety and new perspectives to your grappling game. Cross-training between gi and No-Gi creates a more complete, versatile martial artist.
Is No-Gi Right for Me?
Am I too old to start No-Gi grappling?
Absolutely not. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and No-Gi grappling are scalable for any fitness level. Our training adapts to your age, experience, and physical condition. Adults of all ages train No-Gi successfully, enjoying improved fitness, flexibility, and mental sharpness.
Do I need gi experience before starting No-Gi?
We require completion of our True Fundamentals Course first to ensure you have the baseline BJJ skills needed to excel in No-Gi training. This foundation ensures you understand positional concepts, body mechanics, and safety principles that make No-Gi training more effective and enjoyable.
Is No-Gi more dangerous than gi training?
No. While No-Gi is faster-paced, it’s equally safe when taught properly. Our instructors emphasize control, proper technique, and safe training practices. The reduced friction actually makes some movements smoother and more controlled. We maintain the same safety standards across all our programs.
The bottom line: No-Gi makes you a more complete grappler.
The skills you develop translate to any situation—with or without the gi.

What is no-gi bjj and how is it different from gi training?
No-Gi Brazilian Jiu Jitsu focuses on ground fighting and submissions without the traditional gi (kimono).
